One of the charities we are closely affiliated with is "The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society."  In 1995 Darlene first had the desire to train and run in the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington D.C.  Obviously this was something she had never done before and she was in need of a training program to accomplish her goal.  This is how Darlene became involved with the "Team in Training" program who trains individuals for a variety of Endurance Sports.  Each participant agrees to raise money that goes directly to the Central Florida chapter of "The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society."  She participated again when running the 2007 Disney Marathon. This amazing partnership generates over $500,000 just from those of us participating in the Disney Marathon and Half Marathon. The money will go directly to saving lives of those affected with blood cancers. 

Susan trained with Team in Training for the 2008 Disney Half Marathon. Darlene and Susan have raised over $6,000 while running many miles with the "Team in Training" group.  We have met some of the cancer survivors who are out there training with us and have heard some heartfelt stories.  We all need to take time out of our busy schedules to appreciate what we have and ask ourselves, "how can we improve and impact the lives of others?"  Darlene has found that while competing in a marathon is quite an achievement...the best part of all is knowing that we are one step closer to finding a cure for those patients and their families.
